ABOUT ME
Welcome to my website! My name is Angel, and here is a brief summary of my background. I studied Translation and Interpreting at university and was officially appointed as a sworn translator–interpreter by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs over 20 years ago.
Since then, I have provided translation services to translation agencies, law firms, notaries, investment funds, banks, insurance companies, national and international public institutions, multinational companies across various sectors, and private clients. My main areas of practice are legal and financial translation from French and English into Spanish.
However, I have also translated texts on a wide variety of topics, from the public transport sector (for the International Association of Public Transport, UITP) to the luxury sector for major publicly listed companies, as well as tourism and human resources.
After gaining several years of professional experience, particularly in the legal and financial fields, I founded e-Traducción Jurídica y Financiera, S.L., through which I provide services in collaboration with a small, trusted group of professionals translating between the main Western European languages: Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, and others.
From 2013 to 2021, I translated into Spanish the most significant resolutions of the French Council of State, the advisory body to the French Government and the highest court in the French administrative judiciary.
I have continued my professional development over the years, completing a postgraduate programme specialising in stock markets and securities, as well as three academic years in the field of humanities. My academic experience is not limited to the role of student: since the 2022–2023 academic year, I have been an associate lecturer of French, teaching courses in French for Tourism and French for International Relations.
In 2025, after discovering several works by Montesquieu previously unpublished in Spanish, I embarked on a career in literary translation, with the aim of introducing them to the Spanish-speaking public under my own imprint, Ediciones e-Traducción.

LEGAL TRANSLATION
Do you need to translate a deed, a house conveyancing document, a Companies House certificate or a non-disclosure agreement? These are just a few examples of the legal documents we regularly translate.
Legal translation presents the additional challenge of navigating differences between legal systems of various countries, particularly between civil law and common law jurisdictions. In civil law countries — such as Spain, France, Italy or Germany — many institutions are based on written codes, with notaries playing a central role and their acts enjoying public faith. By contrast, in common law countries such as the United Kingdom or the United States, law is largely case law-based, and legal documents are generally private in nature, drafted by solicitors or barristers without notarial involvement.
Succession law illustrates these differences clearly. For example, in Spain and France a portion of the estate is reserved for forced heirs such as children, ascendants or the surviving spouse, which limits the testator’s freedom of disposition. Inheritance is usually formalised before a notary. In the United Kingdom, however, the principle of testamentary freedom generally applies, allowing individuals to distribute their estate as they wish. Challenges are permitted only in limited circumstances under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, and the process is administered through the probate courts by means of grants of probate or letters of administration.
Another notable difference concerns the role of notaries. In France or Spain, they authenticate contracts, wills, company formations and property transfers, conferring public authority on these acts. In the United Kingdom, notaries have a marginal role, limited mainly to certifying documents for use abroad, while most functions are handled by solicitors. Property conveyancing further illustrates this contrast: in France and Spain it requires a public deed executed before a notary and registration in the Land Registry, whereas in the United Kingdom transfers are effected through contracts and transfer deeds prepared by solicitors and registered with HM Land Registry, without notarial involvement.
Contract law also highlights the divergence between the two systems. In France and Spain, certain contracts must comply with statutory formalities and may require notarisation to be fully valid or enforceable against third parties. In the United Kingdom, contractual relations are governed by the principle of freedom of contract, with fewer formal requirements and greater reliance on detailed drafting in the absence of a civil code.
These are just some of the pitfalls a legal translator faces, which we have learned to navigate expertly over more than 20 years of professional experience. A dictionary alone — or even artificial intelligence — is never enough: a skilled legal translator must combine linguistic proficiency with sufficient legal knowledge to produce translations that are accurate, coherent and fully functional in the target jurisdiction.
We have over two decades of experience translating legal documents between French, English and Spanish. Entrust your legal documentation to a qualified translation practice that meets tight deadlines, ensures strict confidentiality and reproduces legal terminology faithfully to reflect the content of the original.

PROOFREADING AND LITERARY TRANSLATION
We also provide a revision service for machine translations supplied by clients, ensuring linguistic accuracy and terminological consistency. Please be aware, however, that even after revision a machine translation can never replace a carefully crafted version produced from scratch by a professional translator. That said, this service may be useful for certain internal purposes within your company or personal life, particularly for documents that do not require a high level of editorial polish and need to be translated quickly, such as professional correspondence, presentations or reports.
When it comes to carefully crafted translations, I have had the honour of publishing several translations from French into Spanish under my own editorial imprint. Among them are important texts by Montesquieu previously unpublished in Spanish, as well as other rare works of gothic horror and political thought. They may also interest Spanish learners looking to deepen their understanding of the language through authentic and historically significant texts. These books, available in paperback, hardback and digital editions, can be ordered from Amazon, AbeBooks, Blackwell’s, Barnes & Noble and other booksellers. Bookshops can also obtain them through their usual distributors.
If you are a publishing house considering the translation of a work from English into Spanish, please feel free to get in touch to discuss a project, or to recommend my services to your partner publishers in Spain. I would be delighted to collaborate.
